“you will begin to collect words yourself, and you will be grateful, as I am, to all the people who collect odd words and edit odd dictionaries, out of sheer astonishment and affection.”
Alastair Reid
I’m a children’s bookshop owner!
It may have felt like I disappeared from the book world but I was out creating my own space to share the books and artist that I love.
Reading is so important but it can be expensive and take up space, in a city like ours, many families don’t have room for expansive bookshelves. I wanted to be able to provide families with an affordable way to build their bookshelves and keep them fresh by offering a selection of thoughtfully curated new and old books.
As a mom of young readers, I often wished we could trade in our books for the next genre or age group we were entering.
Have your kids ever collected a series? It’s an investment but often times they outgrow them.
Now there is a place to bring in your gently used books to exchange for new ones!
Keep them reading!
Turning a 1989 truck into a bookshop was a lot of work but I absolutely love this little shop.
When dreaming up the idea, I knew I wanted the artwork for the outside to bring wonder and childhood nostalgia- to be classic and magical! So I reached out to one of my favourite artists that I’ve always felt a connection to.
The stunning artwork people can’t stop talking about is created by Emily Hughes. I couldn’t be happier or luckier to have such a talented artist and wonderful human being create this vision. There are so many beautiful Easter eggs hidden in the artwork, I smile every time I see them.
I’ll be sharing more about the truck process and where I’ll be soon.
